The main rivers in the country are Drini, Buna, Mati, Shkumbini, Semani, Vjosa, Erzeni, Ishmi, Bistrica dhe Pavllo, grouped in 6 main River Basin. They have an important effect in the country nature condition and a direct influence in the coastal biodiversity.
With great importance are present also the mountain rivers and streams that include a lot of special habitats and endemic species.
